Named accounts, sub-second finality
NEAR Protocol is the sharded chain built for usability: blocks close about every second, finality is deterministic (no reorganizations to wait out), a transfer costs a fraction of a cent, and — uniquely — accounts are human-readable names instead of hex blobs. Your customers pay to something like yourname.near, not to an address they cannot proofread.
The mechanics are the familiar direct pattern: buyers pay straight to your NEAR account (named or implicit), simultaneous invoices are told apart by unique amount windows, and detection watches native transfers through the keyless nearblocks explorer API. Three blocks — roughly three seconds — is the confirmation budget: not a finality wait, just a read-race buffer.

Addressing modes
Direct (non-custodial)
Payments go straight to your wallet: One NEAR account — named (name.near) or implicit (64-hex) — from any wallet. Every invoice pays to it with a unique amount window; exchanges' deposit accounts work too.

NEAR (NEAR Protocol) payment FAQ
How fast does a NEAR payment confirm?
About three seconds — three blocks after the payment appears. NEAR finality is deterministic: once a block is final it cannot be reorganized, so the small budget only guards against read races.
Is NEAR volatile?
Yes — NEAR invoices re-quote every few minutes until the payment is first seen on-chain, then freeze. The buyer always sees the exact amount to send.
What are the fees on NEAR?
A basic transfer costs well under $0.01 regardless of network load, paid by the sender like gas elsewhere. Nightshade sharding keeps blocks uncongested.
Which wallets work for the direct plan?
Any wallet that shows your NEAR account: Meteor, Bitte, Ledger, MyNearWallet or an exchange deposit account reserved for ZeroKYC Pay. The platform stores the account name only.
